VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Portsmouth. Here, you’ll meet your tour manager and continue your journey by ferry to Fish Bourne and Ventnor.
On the first day of our holidays in Isle of Wight, we enjoy an excursion to Carisbrooke Castle, set dramatically on a sweeping ridge at the heart of the island. Although best known for being where King Charles I was imprisoned, the museum’s fascinating artefacts and interactive exhibits trace its entire 800-year history.
We then head to Sandown and Shanklin on the eastern shore. The ever-popular seaside town of Sandown boasts a magnificent sandy beach that stretches through to the resort of Shanklin, with its picturesque thatched cottages dotted around the Old Village.
Later, we proceed to Godshill, a quintessentially English village of traditional tearooms and thatched cottages, before returning to our hotel.
We head off on a full-day excursion of the island, starting at Osborne House. Built as an Italian-style grand villa and designed by Prince Albert, the house offers a faithful and intimate insight into its royal history.
Isle of Wight breaks would not be complete without sight of the dramatic Needles rocks and lighthouse, first lit in 1786, which extend from the island’s most westerly tip.
Lastly, we make a viewing stop close to Alum Bay, where the spectacular coloured sand cliffs can be viewed from the beach, providing a dramatic conclusion to our day.
We get free time on our Isle of Wight short breaks. Today you’re free to explore Ventnor and the island at your leisure. Ventnor is built on a series of terraces that zig-zag down to the seafront and a part-sand, part-shingle beach. From here, the spectacular Cascade, a feature of the sub-tropical gardens, bubbles down the steep rock face before plunging out to sea.
Our coach departs for the return ferry crossing to Portsmouth, where your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
