Ngorongoro Crater
Welcome to the Crater Floor

Featured Tours in Ngorongoro
Queen Elizabeth National Park offers one of the most varied and rewarding safari experiences in Uganda. From wildlife-packed game drives to tranquil boat cruises and volcanic crater views, it’s a destination that truly has it all.
Why Visit Ngorongoro?
Ngorongoro is compact, dramatic, and densely populated with wildlife. It’s one of the few places where first-time safari-goers can quickly tick off the Big Five.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world. From the rim, views stretch across forests, grasslands, and soda lakes.
Over 25,000 animals live in the crater—including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, and the endangered black rhino.
Thanks to the crater’s compactness and permanent water sources, it’s possible to see lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and leopard within a few hours.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area is co-managed with the Maasai people. Visits to nearby villages and cattle markets reveal how pastoralists coexist with wildlife.
Located just 3 hours from Arusha, with lodges perched on the crater rim for spectacular sunrise views.
When to Visit
Dry season with best visibility and accessibility
Short rains, still very accessible
Green season, calving in surrounding areas
Long rains, fewer crowds and lush scenery
The crater can get crowded. Early starts help beat the rush and maximize sightings.
