Why Visit Queen Elizabeth?
Queen Elizabeth National Park offers one of the most varied and rewarding safari experiences in Uganda. From wildlife-packed game drives to tranquil boat cruises and volcanic crater views, it’s a destination that truly has it all.
The park’s southern Ishasha sector is one of the few places on Earth where lions are regularly seen lounging in fig trees. This rare behavior, combined with the open plains, makes for unforgettable predator sightings.
The Kazinga Channel is a wildlife hotspot, home to one of the highest hippo densities in Africa. A boat cruise offers close-up views of elephants, crocodiles, buffalo, and a wide array of birdlife gathered along the water’s edge.
In the northern sector, a series of volcanic craters carved into the landscape provide dramatic photo opportunities and scenic lookouts. Flamingos often gather at these lakes, adding a splash of pink to the lush scenery.
With over 600 bird species recorded, Queen Elizabeth is one of East Africa’s top birding destinations. Whether you're a novice or expert, you’ll spot everything from bee-eaters and kingfishers to the iconic shoebill stork.
Though known for big game, the park is also home to chimpanzees in Kyambura Gorge and playful monkey species in Maramagambo Forest—making it a surprising stop for primate lovers as well.
North vs South: A Park Divided by the Nile
Visit both regions if time allows—the contrast is part of what makes Queen Elizabeth so special.
